This is a Queue Card from 2015 from my first trip with my first Godson and nephew Aaron Byrnes. Shortly after returning I was diagnosed with cancer. The goal was to return when recovered. We eventually returned in 2018 following a lucky lottery selection through the Wimbledon draw.
Ciara (left) is from Limerick and is passionate about rugby and tennis. She is happiest when cheering on the Munster rugby team and listening to her favourite band Hermitage Green. She also loves musical theatre, and would one day like to be an extra in a movie.
Ciara is a physical education teacher by trade and has fifteen years teaching experience in second level education. She became involved in the Patient Voice in Cancer Research initiative in 2017 after experiencing cancer herself. Since becoming involved in cancer research, Ciara has completed training as a peer grant reviewer with the Irish Cancer Society and helps young researchers to talk about their work in plain English. Ciara is now a member of the steering committee of the Patient Voice in Cancer Research initiative, and currently works as a Public and Patient Involvement Data Analyser with the Department of Pharmacy in Trinity College Dublin.
Ciara has a special research interest in cancer prevention, menopause and fertility preservation in younger women and legislation underpinning returning to work in the public sector post cancer treatment. She is also fascinated by exercise prescription in the health sphere.
